That was dramatic! That VAR penalty decision was absolutely insane, might be the closest goal line tech we've ever had?

I have definitely seen a similarly close call on some meaningless open play goal in some random game.
But a penalty? In a knockout game? And a critical penalty? I don't think anything else comes close, at least nothing comes to mind for me.
Lots of drama, but those were some horrid penalties taken after the first miss. And why on earth would you have the keeper take a pen in the first 5? There's not a single outfield player better than the keeper at #4?
My gripe was that rapinoe had control issues on all her service attempts thus far in the game. She was clearly off and frustrated and didn't think she should have been put out there. Didn't like any of the tactical calls made, but maybe that's just me.
Agreed. Sad, but Rapinoe just wasn't in form coming off the bench. Our attack broke down multiple times from her control issues. Rodman was our best threat on offense. Williams managed well enough. But we needed a finisher off the bench and we just don't have one. Hard not to wonder what could have been if we'd gone with Alyssa Thompson as a late sub, but we'll never know. Credit to Musovic though, she earned that win for Sweden and I gotta be happy for her. Heartbreaking for USA all the same.
Agreed on all counts. Williams and rodman were both awesome, I thought. Bummer about Rapinoe, especially as her last WC. I think there is a lot of soul searching to do now to avoid this in the future.
