Just as a follow up, I fixed up a refurb for my aunt with chrome os. I'm all for giving users power, but not Aunt Donna, she'll fuck up everything she touches somehow lol

Not surprised. Was a time multiple family members called me to fix "new" android tablets who was already out of space despite being advertised as 65 gb space. It had a 64 gb sd card in it, and a 1 gb OS disk. Just enough to fit an already outdated android version and a few non-optional crapware. Not enough to fit updates. Thats the scam they sell to non-techies and old people and schools "cheaply". Overpriced and useless.

This wasn't directly googles fault, but Microsoft at least had the sense to set minimum requirements to devices who wanted to resell their os when they had a tablet/phone os. They didn't want to be associated with scammy resellers.
