I think some of the changes were needed to bring the story up to date for 2024. But that's just me.

There’s a lot of changes I like and dislike with the show. Getting the backstory about Luke’s mom this early on makes Luke’s motives much better. I think the changes to the Thrill Ride of Love section could’ve been better but I like the part where they left Grover behind with Ares and gave Percy and Annabeth some 1-on-1 time. It also gives a good misdirect to Clarisse being the lightning thief.
The Lotus Casino part in this last episode was at least better than the movie imo. I still think I prefer how the books do it but having them meet Hermes this early was a good choice. My only real complaint is that I didn’t see anyone there that could’ve been the DiAngelo children 😂
