I mean, I find them all annoying. But it just seems that the complete lack of materialism makes it even more cringe. CK2's After the End is actually fun and unique because it's supposed to not really make sense and exaggeration of American tropes, but shit like A24's new movie or all the other civil war porn created by NATOids are so annoying to witness.

You must report three times a day to your local soda shop to have the tightness of your undergarments checked for semen.

Temple garments exempt you from this

Burgers, fries, pizza, beer, and surprisingly good taco stands.

Can't imagine what you never experience. These people all lead comfortable lives.

They're constantly showing that they have absolutely no grasp of materialism. They read something about how (for example) unlike the US, the USSR had little to no tropical fruit in its grocery stores and they think "ah, clearly capitalism is the superior system" rather than, say, recognizing that the US was able to have cheap tropical fruit because it installed juntas in Central/South America and forced them to orient their economies around fruit exports.

Or ecologically devastate their own biomes so they can have fucking pistachios a la California, Nevada, Arizona, etc.

Plus afaik the ussr had ag programs working to produce citrus that was cold tolerant and could grow on the shores of the black sea? Like the problem was being worked on.

Evil communists are stealing jobs from American illegal workers!

reminds me of the v for vendetta movie, where the turbofascist government just goes away when the people march against them. yeah right.

like the cops wouldnt machinegun the crowd down. but no, a single protest is enough because they have justice on their side or whatever. stupidest fucking thing ever.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

i'm pretty sure the only reason the march 'succeeds' is because V simultaneously blows up like every other building in London to the tune of some orchestral music, and sends a train full of more explosives underneath the parliament building or something to blow it up as the finale

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I think in the book V kills a bunch of people and also paralyzes the government by revealing to the dictator that the computer the dictator was bonk for was really V all along? Idk, but i remember it being slightly more coherent, and the end was sort of metaphorical about how after the " fuck shit up and break things" anarchist revolution it's up to you to build an anarchist society. Like V is the hard core revolutionaries who all sacrifice themselves to kill the state and then Evie is supposed to teach the normal people how to live without a state or something? It's been a really long time.

that sounds marginally less stupid. film adaptation thingie strikes again.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago

Yeah. the book is Alan Moore being weird and esoteric, the movie is much much more libbed up.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 10 months ago

Because all they have is Hollywood, almost terminal grade alienation, along with this silly fair world bias that hasn't been challenged since the lives of their grandparents, lastly what they aren't told about they don't think about, and its like that by design. Its a naive, pampered child-like view of the world coming out of grown ass adults, its why covid19 clapped and will continue to clap us hard af.

I just kind of want a post apocalypse where I can find a grillman, tie him down, and kick him in the head repeatedly until he expires for being stupid as shit

[–] [email protected] 20 points 10 months ago

grilla warfare

[–] [email protected] 15 points 10 months ago

Because we're too lazy as a nation for it ever to be acted upon. Nobody wants to fight that war, which really drives the point home that libs and conservatives aren't actually too different. Everybody's content to let urban centers be lib strongholds and empty fields be conservative bastions.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Like you said, no materialism, ao they have only the forms of the past to imagine

[–] [email protected] 5 points 10 months ago

They also only run off stereotypes they’ve made for themselves lol. It’s very weird. Like a child playing war and the only thing he knows about war is it’s two teams with guns fighting each other.
