Just regular people selling their time/ideas/morals for capitalism.

I'd have preferred for it to be a thing after we established safety nets so that people don't have to worry about being homeless/hungry/sick.

It is just another industry as long as it is done safely. I know it's filled with a lot of issues, controversies and problems. Like production companies and websites abusing girls, models etc., such as "girls do porn". And other actors abusing other actors.

Porn is acting, just because somebody works in porn doesn't mean harassment doesn't exist towards them.

I know it may still be taboo in many circles and there's still a shame in the world about it. But as with anything in life, some people are okay with it, some people are not, some people choose to ignore it.

It's definitely clear that addiction and overconsumption of porn exists and it does affect humans and their relationships, and it's pretty clear all porn companies have in mind to increase profits and this means that it's in their interest for customers to alienate their relationships and over rely on porn and it's associated products to not only get their horny fix but to fulfill other emotional needs, I mean look at all the AI Chatbots that are being created and the AI Virtual girlfriend experiences. But, I don't feel like this is the only industry that has these issues and that it's the only industry where it's goals aren't what's best for the health of the consumer. Exaggeration and endless pursuit of growth and profits will do this to every industry.

I feel like, with everything in our life we should do our best to be informed and to actively be aware and pursue moderation, but I'm also aware it's not easy and it's not the way humans work.

As much as I say these things I'm not a saint or perfect and I don't always follow them. I myself have an addiction or a mild addiction.

You know, "Do as I say, not as I do"

That it will be really really really interesting how AI affects this sector over the next few years.

Like really interesting.

The optimist in me would think that it will change the industry for the better as less people will be exploited as most porn will be AI generated and only rare "certified real" porn will still require actual humans - which leaves less room for exploration.

The pessimist within me knows the optimist within me is dead for a long time and in reality it will be horrible - with basically every actress, well every person with any (social) media presence/any photos of him/herself will be an porn actress/actor, if they want it or not - there will be places offering "custom made AI porn". And some people will use that to exploit/blackmail/traumatize others. And some people will use it for easier access to more extreme material - and then find that they need even more/more real experiences. Which will be even worse.

I don't mind having a wank to it, but I'd never have any interest in meeting / knowing / dating / having a relationship with anyone who does it.

The amazing counter to that is always "oh, yeah? Well they don't want to have anything to do with you either!" and I am totally okay with that.
