I can see the difference in engagement between the subreddit and this community. I'm wondering out loud what we could do to motivate a migration from there to here.

I think it's probably a bit too early for that. If memory serves this community only had 100 subscribers about a week ago. Since then it's grown to almost 400 with only a couple of days of active posting! I think right now the goal should be to try to maintain a natural growth rate to kind of fill the size of our niche within the fediverse. I want to say the most important part of doing that is going to be establishing a good baseline level of discussion-type activity. Thinking longer term, however, any migration would probably require /r/menslib moderator support and thus would probably need to be instigated by negative action on reddit's part. So be on the lookout for that because that may be the time to start organizing.

Also we need moderators! Anybody interested in volunteering should see this post

You are right. Maybe we should simply give it time.

This is a great little community!

I dunno if Lemmy might be too hard a sell. But it couldn't hurt for someone who still has a reddit to post there and ask.

Speaking of which, I don't anymore. Any volunteer?

If we are not in a rush, I would wait for Sync for Lemmy to come out. One of the biggest issue for potential new joiners is the lack of a very polished clients, and that could sell the deal. Personally, I really enjoy LiftOff and Thunder, but that's me.

This community is first and foremost a feminist community for men and masc people, but it is also a place to talk about men’s issues with a particular focus on intersectionality.

Rules

Everybody is welcome, but this is primarily a space for men and masc people

Non-masculine perspectives are incredibly important in making sure that the lived experiences of others are present in discussions on masculinity, but please remember that this is a space to discuss issues pertaining to men and masc individuals. Be kind, open-minded, and take care that you aren't talking over men expressing their own lived experiences.

Be productive

Be proactive in forming a productive discussion. Constructive criticism of our community is fine, but if you mainly criticize feminism or other people's efforts to solve gender issues, your post/comment will be removed.

Keep the following guidelines in mind when posting:

  • Build upon the OP
  • Discuss concepts rather than semantics
  • No low effort comments
  • No personal attacks

Assume good faith

Do not call other submitters' personal experiences into question.

No bigotry

Slurs, hate speech, and negative stereotyping towards marginalized groups will not be tolerated.

No brigading

Do not participate if you have been linked to this discussion from elsewhere. Similarly, links to elsewhere on the threadiverse must promote constructive discussion of men’s issues.
