The sad truth is that the likely result of carbon reduction technologies will be an increase in carbon production since companies will say that it’s ok since we have better reduction strategies.

We need to change as humans to actually solve this problem.

the meat:

If oil and natural gas consumption were to evolve as projected under today’s policy settings, limiting the temperature rise to 1.5C would require an “entirely inconceivable” 32 billion tonnes of carbon captured for utilization or storage by 2050, including 23 billion tonnes via direct air capture.

not sure if theyre math is right, or if theyre not including a reduction in production by that date...
