Good friends of mine would like a reprieve so they can have their anniversary dinner. I've been a camp counsellor and was pretty good at it but those kids were all 6 years old, this one is 13 months old. Adorable kid but I figure maybe some folks here might have good ideas/thoughts/suggestions/crass jokes?

At 13 months, just started to walk. Every single thing is new. Go for a walk, go to the park. Go to the back yard. Just bring a diaper bag and lots of snacks.

You really can't go wrong, anything is a toy and everything goes in their mouth.

Good luck

“Everything goes in their mouth” is the easiest way for things to go wrong.

Don’t turn your back on them for a second.

Don't let them out of your sight.

Play with wooden blocks. You can do some sensory play (shape goes in which shaped hole, etc).

Peekaboo is a solid smile maker.

For kids around that age, it's much easier to distract them from something than it is to calm them down about it. If he's crying about not being able to eat dirt, distract him with a ball or some shit and he'll immediately forget about it.

Dinner means night. Surely the child won't be awake for 6 hours. You will likely do toddler dinner then bed time routine and then they will be asleep. Ask to go over a day early to shadow the bedtime routine.
