Hello everybody!

This is the first post on the first official Reddit alternative to the /r/composer subreddit. Given Reddit's overall enshittification, going to a decentralized, non-corporate owned alternative seems best.

For the time being, this community will operate under the exact same rules as /r/composer does on Reddit. But things can evolve since this is a different platform and will attract its own kind of activity.

We are not abandoning /r/composer for the foreseeable future but are just taking some first baby steps to see what else is out there.

Happy composing!
Dave

Hey there! I really hope Lemmy can take off. It would be a great win for all of us. I'm trying to do my part by posting here, so that there's some actual content which people might gravitate towards. I'm also trying to beef up the Piano communities out here. Wish you the best of luck!

Awesome! Thanks for showing up! So far I'm liking how Lemmy works so who knows, maybe this can become a thing.

I agree! Also, as a smaller community, we composers might have a better experience here than some huge subs, I'd reckon

A place for posting and discussing your score-based music.

For music theory questions, check out our good friends over at [email protected].

Rules for the sub:

Always provide a score if you are posting music:

A SCORE MUST BE PROVIDED. Audio is optional. Graphic scores are welcome; a score is defined as anything which is intended for a performer to interpret and read from. A screenshot of your DAW project or piano roll is not a graphic score.

Posting a commission:

All commission posts must include a single line of text at the end providing concise information on compensation. If it's unpaid you can specify that. Any commissions which violate this rule will be removed.

Tone and Civility:

All posts and comments should be respectful and courteous. Composers are here to learn or to help one another; insulting and bashing is not in the spirit of education or supporting fellow artists and will not be accepted. Disagreements are welcome; hostility is not.

One word answers/comments often lead to hostile reactions while at the same time adding absolutely nothing to the overall discussion. They will be removed at the discretion of the moderators.
