i was setting up postmaster on Linux Mint, and i saw that a lot of UDP requests were blocked from one local IP address. I found out the IP belonged to my parents Samsung smart TV. i loaded up wireshark and found out it is sending UDP requests with different port numbers per request. any ideas what is going on, and how i can stop it.

Disconnect it. But seriously, see if the router can block the requests.

True, Smart TVs are basically spying devices.

I think the easiest way would be to set a firewall rule, don’t let it talk to the other devices on the network. Or maybe just put it in it’s own vlan entirely. Definitely could impact functionality though, especially casting I imagine.

It's rather frustrating I can't just buy a dumb tv. The smart bit about a tv is going to be obsolete a decade before the screen anyways. How much effort is plugging in a Chromecast or something?
