To be clear, we don't think the US is currently a particularly dangerous place to be trans - it seems it's about in the middle. We're worried about which way the winds are blowing. It is a BIG DEAL to emigrate even if you

a) are not in an oppressed group, b) have economic privilege.

Waiting until a newly elected Trump invalidates your passport and makes "advocating trans-ism" illegal will make it MUCH harder to get out. We spent last summer in Uganda, we know what it's like. We want people to escape, and offer options for people to do that.

And we think it's "unlikely", in the same sense as it being unlikely I'll crash the car today, but still think car insurance is a good idea. After all, you've got an 82% chance of being just fine after playing Russian Roulette. Personally, I'm giving it just over 50% chance, but YMMV.

If you think we're completely misreading the situation and it's 100% not going to happen, then great - this isn't your conversation. We're happy to look like fools in a few years. If not, then what possible outcomes do you think there might be, what is the probability of those outcomes, and how do you want to react to that?

You might want to schedule an appointment with us - you may have more options than you think.

We run Trans Rescue, a charity that helps trans people escape from dangerous places We've of course added amerikkka to the list, and our main campaign this year is to educate people on how to get out of the US during the increasingly possible biden-fall lame duck period. We post little cartoons and explainers on a few social media sites. Shares appreciated cat-trans Many people feel stuck, or are stuck, due to family ties. Do you all have any first or second hand perspectives/stories on this?

If you need help planning your own escape from the USA, email [email protected] for a free consultation.

If you're #young, #trans, in the US (in the Winston-Salem area would be amazing!) and willing to help us with a bit of acting, please drop a line to [email protected]

We offer pretty much the same as your consultancy for free. Drop an email to [email protected] if you want a free consult covering your options.

Italy will take people who have grandparents who were Italian citizens (with some details).

And your "self deportation" market is something we and others are actively trying to work on. It's slow going - there's a right wing everywhere. But yes, the current asylum system is bizarre - our passengers are mostly folks towards the end of college, those you'd want to bring in. We've got biochemists, software engineers, hardware engineers, psychiatrists, social workers, and attorneys here to the Netherlands. And they're all sitting on their hands waiting for work approval. Instead of costing the NL money and making them miserable, the country could have more social workers (there's a shortage), doctors (very much a shortage), etc.

We've made a video explaining how countries make immigration decisions and how you can work within that system to get yourself out of the USA.

We are seeking volunteers willing to help us make educational and motivational content for this year's push to get as many American trans people to a place of safety as we can.

We still need: Video production folks - videographers, sound folks, motion graphics, editing, you name a skill we can proably use it. We currently have lots of copy writers, but are short most everything else.

This will probably be a few hours a week of work in a remote workgroup - say on a weekend day - and a few more hours of independent work, flexible with what you can do.

If you'd like to help us please drop us a line at [email protected]

Lets work together and save some trans lives.

Hello - I'm Anne Ogborn, the director of Trans Rescue.

We've had some wonderful folks step forward, but it's clear to us that we weren't clear in the original call for volunteers.

We're assembling a media team because we know we're going to have to educate a lot of American trans people about how to get out of the USA if we're not to be caught flat footed by the election next November. So we're asking for help primarily to develop educational content. We might do some fundraising among it (we do need money to operate), but the primary push is going to be educating fellow trans* folks on their options and about the complexities of migrating, and motivating folks to do what they need to do.

Anyway, if anyone out there would like to help with this project, please drop me a line at [email protected]

Thanks

Annie
