users are going to ditch Nvidia in droves to adopt Linux desktop.

If even a fucking smidgeon of all computer users stopped using Nvidia for Linux, they'd probably start supporting them.

No. It'll take a while lot more than a few. Nvidias IP is worth a metric shit load. They will never open source the entire thing. At best you'll get small modules of support.
