I donβt use it but Matrix/XMPP is what youβre looking for.
I second matrix. Its also federated and has mutible clients. But like lemmy under development (but more advanced in the development process)
Cool, I've heard of it. What client is good to use?
There are a lot but Element is multi-platform and has the most features
Element is the most featureful one. You'll probably want to have it around even if you don't use it every day. Cinny looks pretty close to Discord (and is overall cozier imo), and FluffyChat is more Telegram/WhatsApp-y and seems to be one of the better ones for phones.
I'm using Element. Any channels etc you'd recommend?
I've been away from Matrix for a while so idk about any new and interesting ones, but it's generally the whole Linux-y FOSS types of the internet that tend to have reasonably active Matrix channels, compared to the general purpose audience of, say, Discord.
