So, are there any statistics on how many Americans (or specifically Christians) believe this kind of thing is literally true?

Hi. i'm not sure how many are aware of depths of it. Most culture-christians don't have a clue.

However, there's countless selfies by people from any conviction, how they were deep into xyz and when seeing no way out, calling out to the (unknown) God and Jesus himself reaching out to save.
