I'm on lemmy.ml, and I want to subscribe to https://lemmy.world/c/songaweek. There it says to put [email protected] into search on my instance to subscribe, but it doesn't turn up anything. Anyone know why this might be, and/or how to work around it?

If no one ever subscribed to that community it can take a few seconds for the server to fetch it. Just wait a bit or try again.

You might need to click search a couple times. It usually only takes a few seconds but if the other server is down or they can’t otherwise can’t communicate temporarily or otherwise you might not be able to find it.

Repeated searching isn't helping, and their webserver is working at https://lemmy.world/c/songaweek. There are other lemmy.world communities showing up in my feed. Hmmm

it could be that the two instances cant talk to each other, or are perhaps rate limited. Are you able to connect from a different source instance?

Tried here and that didn't get any results either. Nor do I get any results for [email protected] "https://lemmy.ml/search?q=!memes%40lemmy.world&type=Communities" which is weird since I see those posts on my lemmy.ml feed.

weird. doesnt work for me either. Lemmy.world had some recent downtime maybe some functionality is still broken atm.

I've tried a bunch of times, searching for "[email protected]" in communities, with 'all' selected. Pretty consistently nothing for me. Does it come up for you?

Works without problems here. Try searching the actual URL https://lemmy.world/c/songaweek

You mean it works for you with “[email protected]”? For me the url works but the ! address does not. If the ! address searching is broken, isn't that a problem?

[email protected]

Searching for that works here as well.
