Intelligent dance music (commonly abbreviated as IDM) is a style of electronic music originating in the early 1990s, defined by idiosyncratic experimentation rather than specific genre constraints. It emerged from the culture and sound palette of electronic and rave music styles such as ambient techno, acid house, Detroit techno and breakbeat; it has been regarded as better suited to home listening than dancing. Prominent artists associated with it include Aphex Twin, Autechre, Squarepusher, Venetian Snares, Boards of Canada, Telefon Tel Aviv, ฮผ-Ziq, the Black Dog, the Future Sound of London, and Luke Vibert.

ยต-ziq Live on Resonance online radio. Featuring a great version of Ease Up VIP. This would've been played around 2003 to 2005 I think, might've been before the release of Ease Up. Notice the ending of Ease Up VIP is a bit different from the release version. I think I prefer this version (maybe just because I heard this one first), wish I had a higher quality copy.

Hey, I mean that as a compliment. I quite like the Venetian Snares. Sometimes ;)

Like this is a work of art: https://venetiansnares.bandcamp.com/album/rossz-csillag-alatt-sz-letett

I love that album, I am a fan of VSnares, but u-ziq was around before VSnares

Fair. I probably have causality reversed here :)

Actually u-ziq (MIke Paradinas) discovered venetian snares, Planet Mu is the label of Paradinas, his first releases appeared there:

After hearing Greg Hates Car Culture while browsing a Minneapolis record store,[6] Mike Paradinas (also known as ฮผ-Ziq) immediately signed Funk on to his record label Planet Mu, leading to three releases for the label in 2001, a collaboration album with Speedranch, Making Orange Things, a 7-inch EP, Defluxion, and a full-length album, Songs About My Cats.

Alright, that is awesome trivia :)

It's funny how interconnected the industry is. Like, how many people in the ambient space are two degrees or less from Aphex Twin. Or how many IDM albums in the last two decades are two degrees or less from Ultimae... Etc. :)
