Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.
As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.
Thank you and happy chatting!

My point is not that it's actually been dying, it's that people have always complained that it's been at an equivalent state of "verge of death" since before it even existed. There were fed weirdoes who thought the merger of ARPANET with NSFNET would destroy both. The internet is in a constant state of change, you could argue that the internet is change. Change often feels like the end of something you use and love.
There will always be niches and there will always be massive platforms trying to edge in on those things. That's literally just how capitalism works. The symptom is not the disease, you have to treat the source of the problem.
That actually super tracks. I hang out with niche groups of people and occupy nice spots online lol until further notice I guess
