Wasn't that basically the History Channel, or was that the Military History Channel? That basically did exactly that for the 2010s?

Not quite. Band of Brothers was more of a narrative focused show based on a book.

The History Channel stuff started as documentaries, but quickly went off the rails and started focusing on Wunderwaffe shit and nazi mysticism - all still in the "documentary" genre.
