This would be great if wasn't a subtle ad for Starbucks

The idea is to implant the idea of Starbucks in your mind by having the logo there so when you think of coffee you are more likely to think of Starbucks

100% the Lemmy response I expected.

What a weird response. This is literally how marketing works.

Are you suggesting that Starbucks gives a single fuck beyond trying to post quotes that might go viral with their logo directly next to them? Why else would they have their logo right there?

I've been noticing a trend of defensiveness when people get called out for astroturfing and I can't tell if you're defensive because you know what you're doing, or because you don't want to acknowledge that you're accidentally doing it.

This has no affect on whether I’m going to get Starbucks or not. Maybe I’m just an exception to this weird fucking subliminal message bullshit everybody cries about on here. All my response is in reference to is knowing what everybody is going to say before they even say it on here.

When I see this, I think some 17-year-old barista wrote it out and it doesn’t go beyond that. regardless, I won’t be buying Starbucks anytime soon.

In response to your edit: I wasn’t being defensive. I was stating a fact. I simply don’t care about branding in any regard. If this makes you buy Starbucks, I’m sure you were going to buy it anyway lol. It’s just funny on here that any brand being anywhere sends people into a fit.

You've misunderstood marketing at a fundamental level if you think your decision not to get Starbucks immediately is at all relevant.

The intent is to impact your subconscious with a certain positive perception of the brand. You don't have a choice in it, that's why it's subconscious. Just seeing the brand at all increases the likelihood that more people will consider the brand in the future.

And it doesn't have to be you. It's a statistics game of X people see it so Y% are more likely to choose Starbucks.

I’ll blur it out next time. Maybe I’ll put a Lemmy logo on there.

Sorry for coming off aggressive when I'm sure you weren't intending to post an ad.

I'd just like to avoid Lemmy ending up like Reddit where every other post is driven by a company's social media coordinator.

No problem, I agree.
