As a Canadian I'm not entirely sure what region it is that "punches horses" but it got a chuckle out of me.
Newcastle - happened at a football game some years ago
You can instantly tell it's Newcastle without knowing the exact point on the map, because it's the same place that is "shirtless"
Wait, that actually happened?? Hahaha I feel bad for laughing though, poor horse.
Back in 2013 - there's video of it.
The horse was fine and died at the age of 21 after a pleasant retirement.
