One of the commentators on the Optus sport stream is insufferable

Which one? Lol

I usually find that's the case too

Dunno his name but the one going on about managers knowing the rules of the game when the season starts and criticising them for reacting to referee decisions. The context was Nuno getting frustrated about the delay in montiel getting back on, and Arteta shaking his head when Gabriel J got his yellow.

The context the commentator is forgetting is that basic rules like dissent are not consistently applied so I think they're well within their rights to be frustrated.

And despite all that when did it become illegal for managers to show emotions

I love how passionate and animated Arteta is. Isn't that what you would want in a manager?

Someone who is behind the team and invested in the club?

Ahh, gotcha. I may have tuned that part out, lol

Their job is just to keep talking and not to leave any dead air. So, they just end up talking a lot of bollocks. I had a similar reaction to a commentator in our last game. They were commenting on why our set piece coach kept going up to the touchline to give instructions and how there are so many coaches involved in the game these days.

I don't understand why that would be so confusing to a commentator of all peoiple. Why is that confusing? There is so much at stake and every tiny detail of the game is broken down and analysed these days. Including set pieces in games like this one where it's difficult to break down a defensively structured side. You make the most of any opportunity or tactic to gain an advantage.

I like the commentating to aid what I'm seeing since I can't always tell who may have a ball, or explain something I've missed. I can't stand a lot of their shitty takes...
