So after googling, it seems that some devices store the image’s orientation in something called EXIF metadata and not all software is able to read the metadata.
So I found a quick workaround; I uploaded to imgur, took a screenshot, and then uploaded and the orientation was correct. Haven't tried it yet, but I'm curious if I took a screenshot of the actual picture if it would net the same results.
Ahhh. Good thinking. I hope it’s something that lemmy can figure out so we don’t have to do questions like this. I bet it’ll get easier in time.
