I find it funny how just a couple of years ago I was terrified of Ron DeSantis because he had the potential to be an actually competent fascist president, but then he blows up his own political career by going against cheeto-man Like he could have just waited until 2028 to run against AOC or gruesome Newsom and have a decent shot at nomination.

Like he could have just waited until 2028

He could not. He can't run again in Florida and by the time it comes around to the next presidential he would be a nobody. It was now or never for him, he had to.

I mean, he could run for Senator or something

No senator seats are up for reelection in Florida either. It really was his only move

Pull a Hillary and move to a different state

[–] [email protected] 2 points 10 months ago

It only worked for Hillary because it was her turn

It also turns out that was manufactured fear and he’s not competent at all

yep exactly. really demonstrates just how much of a shit politician he is

The worst part, was early on in Florida his administration was rather popular. He hadn't embraced the far-right culture war bullshit, he hadn't gone off the rails with COVID, he could have maintained that centrist Republican lane and probably done much better.

He has the political instincts of one of those fictional lemmings that jumps off a cliff.

He was popular because of his anti-Covid lockdown policies. Keeping Florida open for partying was the entire reason he had national attention and popularity
