Michiganders will no longer need to attest they have less than $15,000 in assets like cash, checking and savings accounts in order to qualify for food assistance benefits, although income and expenses will still be used to determine eligibility.

Honestly, good. Asset checks are awful ways of keeping people destitute and hungry.

As usual, Republicans would rather wring their hands over a handful of people getting something than worry about the burdens it puts on folks who need the assistance and aren't getting it.
