About this community

Dead Cells is an action/platformer/roguelite game developed by Motion Twin, a French independent developer based in Bordeaux. It's available on all current gaming platforms. This community is here for anyone wanting to discuss the game. Everyone is welcome to participate! Please read the rules before you post but don't be shy, come say hi!

Rules

1. Be niceBe civil with fellow members and welcoming to new users. Don't flame, insult, harass people, etc... Avoid "git gud" or "skill issue" comments, and try to be patient with newcomers.

2. Stay on topicOnly post Dead Cells-related content. Gifs, screenshots, discussion, suggestions, questions, memes are all welcome as long as it remains on topic and somewhat interesting to other members (see next rule).

3. No low-effort or duplicate postsDuplicative posts about in-game occurrences (Symmetrical Lance's "can break shields" affix bug) or other low-effort posts will be removed.

4. No spam, self-promotion or clickbaitPlease no ads for your youtube/twitch channel or streams here. Posting a funny clip or an incredible run is perfectly fine, but it should be interesting enough to Lemmy users to justify it. Just because a 2h video has a hilarious bug in it doesn't mean you should post the whole video. Caps lock clickbait titles are especially criminal. Examples of things that are not allowed: "Watch me stream dead cells", "Doing hard mode runs!" "Speed run attempts today!" "DEAD CELLS TWITCH GIVEAWAY!!!", etc..

5. Posting guidelinesSee previous rules for the general idea. Be helpful to new players, try to give them good advice. Don't post methods to cheat in Daily runs. Please don't encourage newbies to cheat when they're looking for advice. No porn, gore, etc.

I started playing DC again after a long break and my best run yet was when I found the Hotline Miami reference lore room, which unlocks and drops the (level I) baseball bat. Now the Baseball bat does not have particularly high base damage but very good crit damage and guaranteed crits on stunned/rooted targets. That is already really cool when you combine it with stunning enemies by stomping on them but I was sure I´d have to replace that weapon later in the run because it was just a level I item.

A few biomes later I stumbled over a golden altar with a legendary Boys Axe, which roots enemies on hit and as I told earlier you get auto-crit hits on rooted targets with the baseball bat, so obviously I ditched my rampart shield for the Boys Axe and from there on, practically all my baseball bat hits were crit hits. But it got even better!

Shortly afterwards I found a sinew slicer and then I got incredibly lucky and was able to roll +60% damage on bleeding targets on BOTH, the baseball bat AND the Boys Axe! Obviously from there I just breezed through the rest of the run, melting everything and killed the Hand of the King in mere seconds, with a level I baseball bat as my main weapon :D

On top of all that, during the run I was also able to figure out how to use certain weapons like they were one, as it had been possible years ago but was patched out. This also added to making the build ridiculously strong since I could spam the baseball bat and the boys axe like they where just a combo of the same weapon.

To drop regularly the Boy´s Axe requires Rise of the Giant DLC but like with all DLC weapons, you can get lucky and find the legendary version of it in an altar, even without having the DLC installed.

Also rise of the giant is the free dlv

Yes, that is also a very relevant point in this context :D
