Gay: News, Memes and Discussion
Welcome to /c/Gay - Your LGBTQ+ Haven
We're more than just a community; we're your haven for celebrating LGBTQ+ culture and connecting with like-minded individuals.
Community Rules:
~ 1. No bigotry. Hating someone off of their race, culture, creed, sexuality, or identity is not remotely acceptable. Mistakes can happen but do your best to respect others.
~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.
~ 4. Keep it LGBTQ+ related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.
~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love posts but 3-4 in an hour is plenty enough.
~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.
~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon' and fuck over our artist friends.

I can't remember where I heard it but it's accurate. It also doesn't help that I don't blink very often and I just stare off into space while having some ADHD daydreams. I've seen people get up and move to the other end of the bus or subway car because I was just zoned out and thinking. They looked genuinely scared and kept looking back down at me.
It's so bad that if I'm walking around at night or something and the only other person around is a woman I tend to just start playing up the gay mannerisms because otherwise I've had people genuinely look shaken. I dunno if you've heard the bit from John Mulaney about essentially chasing a woman in the middle of the night with her freaking the hell out but that has more or less happened to me and I'm really trying not to repeat that lol
"Oh thank dog, I hear sirens. They'll catch that crazy guy chasing us!"
Oh bless you. I feel bad. I am anxious enough walking around outside in rather empty places, even if it is about as safe as it gets. I don't have anything constructive to say unfortunately, but I typically look for a vibe in people and try and be on my way instead of assuming the worst. Maybe I am naive. I am really sorry you have to go through that! You can have a hug from this Internet stranger. I truly wish we didn't have to be so afraid.
