Is my understanding correct that there are no @framework laptops in 16x9 (or 16x10) aspect ratios available right now? eg the pre-order for next quarter delivery is the only option?

It is moderately likely I will need a laptop before that time window and dont want to miss the opportunity to get a framework (but the 3:2* aspect ratio... isn't for me).

@David_Eight There are a few reasons:

- momentum. I'm used to it and 3:2 is an unknown and I dont have room in my budget (money, time, attention) to experiment with an unknown

- I want the same aspect ratio for my laptop as my monitor when docked so that window configuration is consistent between both

- I like to use vertical split for side by side windows

- I occasionally play video games and watch movies which are often designed for 16x9

  1. You could just go to a store and look at a laptop with a 3:2 screen. There's plenty of them on sale today.
  2. Might be a legit problem, idk really.
  3. You still can with a 3:2 screen
  4. Also legit problem. Fun fact IMAX(2.83:2) movies are actually closer to 3:2 than 16:9. Standard movies are shot in 1.85:1(16.65:9) not 16:9. So no matter what screen you watch on it'll never be quit right. This fact doesn't help you at all I just think it's bullshit and wanted you to know lol.

But to answer your question, you are correct. The only Framework laptop you will be able to purchase in the near future is the 13.5 inch which is 3:2. So if that's a deal breaker for you, you'll need to buy something else.

@David_Eight Thanks! Yeah, I'd like to look at a 3:2 at the store first but I'm not ready to convert as of right now. :)

That *IS* a fun fact! thank you for mentioning it. As a teenager, I worked as a projectionist at a movie theatre. Good times.
