I think the commenter was alluding to the fact that democracies like the US have supported regime overthrows that ended democracy for several countries
Yeah, but only clandestinely. I don't have any trouble finding examples of America openly invading dictatorships, but their involvement in overthrowing democracies was always quite indirect. I.e. it only worked because those places weren't stable enough to begin with.
Please don't misunderstand me, allegedly helping to overthrow Allende was still bad, but it's somewhat soothing to know that they didn't feel save enough to do that publicly.
That's true, and nit only for the US. I just don't see what that has to do with the linked article, that's a different story.
