Any games with animal people in it that you want to talk about? Either as a recommendation, or as a "look at this interesting thing"?

For me, I've been playing three games recently:

  • Tunic: An adorable zelda/soulslike hybrid that looks adorable. It also captures a unique sense of retro and nostalgia that I haven't felt before. Would recommend, and worth going into it blind.
  • Super Lesbian Animal RPG: I know it's not really aimed at me, but I've been enjoying it. It feels very genuine and doesn't take itself too seriously. So far, anyway.
  • Friends vs Friends: An online arena shooter/deckbuilder game. Pretty fun, although I'm not good at it yet. Not yet sure how P2W it is though.

I'm still in the middle of FUGA 2 but CyberConnect2 really knows how to build their world. Having played Tail Concerto and Solatorobo in the past, knowing that they all exist in the same world, just at different times, you can really pick up on things.

spoilerSuch as Shepherd being named after Malt, where Solatorobo takes place.

While 1 was fairly easy to not have to use the cannon, I'm finding 2 much harder especially with the "auto-load". But I am SO GLAD they removed the fail chance on the intermissions.

I'd love to see a Tail Concerto remake, but given how poor that Little Tail games seem to sell I doubt it'll happen.

Yeah I also noticed there was a Hotel Savarin owner, probably an ancestor from the family that adopted Red. You can really see their love for that world in these litle things.

They really improved Fuga 2 as far as QoL goes, the skill rebalance was pretty well done, I liked how weaker skills got more powerful over time, and the auto load really ramped up the tension for players who tried to pretend the Soul Cannon didn't exist.

I guess anything related to Tail Concerto and Solatorobo would have depend on the fans, on top of poor sales it's likely that they are tied up to some arrangement with Atlus and Bandai. It's sad to see that these games never get the reception they deserve but I'm so grateful that they keep at it regardless. Lets hope CyberConnect2 keeps getting anime games so that they can fund future entries.
