I believe that we should fill out the community's details a bit more. Specifically, things like a picture (e.g the void logo), as well as rules and other information in the sidebar.

Right now, there is no picture or banner, as well as no established rules or information about this community.

I understand that a sidebar may want to be kept minimal, but especially as this community is less established I believe that some level of guidance is required,

I'm not saying that the sidebar needs to be filled in for new users. But I am saying it'd be nice to so that existing and new users have some more information regarding this place and don't feel like they've been thrown into cold water.

What would you add then? It already has some information on the distribution itself and since we're on a discussion board, anything goes.

Maybe more common links (e.g the handbook) and a small set of rules^1

1: we all have different rules across our instances, so adding some ground-rules independently of the instance is important.

There's already a link to voidlinux.org, as for the rules - with this little content which at the same time all seems relevant to the community, I don't see the need for moderation at the moment. It's not the lack of rules that's stopping people from posting here in my opinion.

at this point I do want to be clear, when I propose to fill this community's metadata - e.g the sidebar, banner or avatar, or to add some basic ground-rules, it is not necessarily to incentivise traffic, but rather to make sure that before that traffic arrives there is a good set of metadata to tell visitors more about this community and it's values.

I don't say this to devalue your opinion, and I understand that my proposals may not be suited to the goal of increasing usercounts or activity in this community.
