The plant ID apps think it is wild ginger, but it does not look like a good match to me. There is a ton of wild ginger trying to take over my yard, and this is definitely not the same plant.

I don't have one installed myself. My partner did the identification. I think he's using plant.id.

Just had to come back and thank you for this! Had no idea such magic existed! Using the PlantNet app made me feel like it was 2010 and smartphones were magical! ๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿคฃ

Ha! Exactly! I remember circa 2010 walking through a park in Pittsburgh and thinking "it would be great to have an app that could identify plants based on a photo". By the time I moved to Atlanta a few years later I was snapping photos of the weeds in my yard to see what everything was (using PlantNet also). Back in Pittsburgh I had to use an old-fashioned ID guide to identify poke-weed for the first time. That stuff is everywhere!
