Ich nutze sowohl in der Arbeit, als auch privat Linux und bin damit glücklich. Es hängt vermutlich u.a. von folgenden Faktoren ab.

Was macht man damit (gibt es kritische SW welche nur auf Windows/Mac zur Verfügung steht?
Wie wichtig ist einem Offenheit?
Wie wichtig ist einem Privatsphäre?
Will man SW entwickeln und ja, für welche Plattform/Zielsystem Für mich gibt es auf jeden Fall keinen Grund zu Wechseln.
