Which Pixel 7 is the best value? (lemmy.world)

I'm leaning towards the 7a.

Between the 7 and 7a, I'm just not seeing any meaningful differences that are worth the extra $100. The 7 Pro has some more concrete advantages, but are they truly worth the premium over the 7a? Do they improve the daily experience of the device enough?

Another advantage of the 7a is the longer support life. I think they are all technically the same length, but since they released 7a later, if you are buying a device today then the 7/7P will stop getting updates before the 7a does.

Thoughts? I'm using a Pixel 4a 5G right now, so that's my frame of reference. I'm perfectly happy with it, the upcoming end of life is what's pushing me to upgrade.

I have pixel 7 and I'm not a big fan of the size. I wish it was smaller. And it sounds like pixel 7a is a tinny bit smaller. Also, I think pixel 7 allows you use battery sharing while the pixel 7a does not. You know when you use pixel 7 as awireless charging for other devices.

Regarding the pixel 7 pro, it is a better phone in terms of spec, but of course that comes with a higher price point.

Based on this review it sounds like you should wait for pixel 7 to go on sale, or buy the pixel 7a if you need a phone right now.

Now you made me wonder if I should trade my pixel 7 for pixel 7a or just wait for the pixel 8 as it is expected to be a little smaller than the P7.
