Also remember, things are newsworthy because they're novel. US sees like 2 gun deaths per day and thousands due to insurance company malpractice, but this one death dominates newscycles.

Yeah, the biggest benefit of it is the side access. It's great for me because I can reach in and grab/put away things by just taking off one shoulder. No need to even stop walking. It's the perfect option if you needed to tuck a gun and mask away really quick on the move.
