Land of Lincoln...the prairie state...corn, soybeans, and pumpkins. Chicago-inclusive, but there's a lot more to Illinois than just the Windy City.

First IL Governor I can actually be proud of
If you disagree let’s hear it
Democrats need to play this carefully.
"protect our undocumented immigrants" plays into the MAGA playbook that the dems are weak on immigration issues.
I don't know what the right play is though. All left leaning parties find it hard to communicate clearly on immigration issues.
But this kind of headline at a glance makes it look like the governor of illinois is in favour of illegal immigration?
Its difficult topic to communicate clearly on when you have the right behaving hysterically about the topic and conflating terms like "undocumented" with "illegal" in people's minds.
David Frum is a problematic figure obviously but he recently spoke about the border issue and said some things about it that I wish the left would capitalize on. He tied the immigration problem to America's booming economy and low unemployment. He said it's a massive 'help wanted' sign that a lot of people in other countries can't ignore.
I think it's excellent messaging to relate everything to the economy somehow and this really puts it into perspective - they aren't stealing jobs, rather they're filling roles that the US currently has no one left to fill. AND they're contributing to a booming economy, not ruining it somehow.
Look at this another way. Undocumented immigrants are willing to work worse jobs for less pay and less desirable conditions and drive down what should be the natural cost of labor for those with legal status. It erodes pay and standards for those who are here legally. This is how you end up with markets where the workers can’t even afford to live there.
