Damn near every other wireless (rechargeable) mouse has the port on the side furthest from you, like where the cord is traditionally connected to the mouse. I've never heard of anyone getting gunk wedged in the port there as a common problem.

Using a mouse with the cable coming out of the front would be awful. Belongs in the back.
