I bet they're all remasters, remakes, and re-releases.
What is the difference between the former two?
My understanding is a remaster would involve enhanced visuals, maybe re-recorded lines and such, but otherwise is the same exact game and engine.
A remake would be starting over from scratch, rebuilding with perhaps a new engine, more than a face-lift.
I find remakes to usually have slightly larger maps, more fluid gameplay, maybe new features that didn't exist in the original.
This appears to be a decent article about the topic. https://retrostylegames.com/blog/difference-between-remake-and-remaster/
I think there's a place for good remakes and remasters, especially for very old games, and games not originally released on many platforms. But the industry has come to abusing them just to churn out more.
Remake -> Take an old game and remake it from the ground up. Like different graphics, engine or even gameplay.
Re-release -> Simply release an older game again, possibly on another system, but don't do anything beyond perhaps the most basic of fixes to ensure compatibility.
From this comment
Though I appreciate the reply, I was looking for the difference between a remaster and a remake specifically. I think both of them should mean the same thing essentially.
Well, I left the original comment for you, so you can read up on it.
