So Russian scientists now get excluded from EU work, but Tennis players are still OK.
It's insane that Russians can come here to earn money, while waging war against Europe at the same time.
That goes for any branch, be it entrepreneurs, scientists or art, it doesn't matter, they should not be able to make money here. That should be a very obvious part of our embargo against Russia.
It seems like tennis players aren't really the priority when protecting scientific data, or potential breakthroughs.
You are completely ignoring the essence of my argument., they make money, it creates prestige and it normalizes working with Russia.
All these Russians need to be thrown out 2 years ago.
They're coming after our balls!
Depriving Russia of nuclear scientists, or capable people in general, might well be worth whatever wages they brought home.
If you want to bring the inter-european war into it I'm not sure if we can afford to be unpragmatic about this. By all accounts letting Russia bleed manpower in exchange for some small wages is well worth it. If you want to deprive them of money you really need to strike at their ability to export gas and oil at inflated prices. Advancing knowledge about fusion aids that goal, though the effects are likely (hopefully?) too late to matter.
So that would be similar to the tennis players, no?
It's really not, a typical aspect of a country at war is removal from public participation.
Yeah, one that they "forgot" to do to Russia.
Oh yeah, expelling those who will then be drafted into the army back at their home country is a brilliant move.
Look, I don't make the rules man you can be mad and maybe should be just not at me and not really at Ukraine or cern.
True, but having one idiot do massively stupid things doesn't mean the other side doing less stupid things somehow stopped being stupid.
Cern is uninvolved, they just don't want the conflict to be an issue on property. Ukraine was invaded, Russia invaded so they booted Russia and not Ukraine.
It makes total sense.
Who is saying they're being deported to Russia? Countries have been accepting asylum seekers for literal centuries especially highly talented ones.
If anything they're helping to push the talented Russians to jump ship just like they did in the 80s and 90s.
These aren't 2.0gpa party school kids. These are generally PhD or PhD students who would have exactly zero difficulty leaving to the US because the US will simply give them what they want to brain drain Russia. We spent literally hundreds of millions of dollars doing this from 1946-now. The theory being farmers don't build great missiles and scientists and engineers are in shorter supply.
It's impossible to recall the context because somebody keeps removing my comments, but I get the gist: you're telling an actual former PhD student from Russia who has long moved abroad how the rest of the world aCtUaLlY treats Russian scientists and PhD students.
Then your proof of my point Dr dumb dumb.
Firing Russians who are already abroad doesn't push Russians OUT of Russia. WTF.
