after about nine months of dreaming and pining and putting it off because of money, i finally got me some inline skates and i am so happy with them.

i used to do a bit of aggressive inline years ago, and last winter i got the idea in me to start skating again for some reason, and the idea would not leave me be. i was hesitant to order something online though without being able to try it on first, but i found a physical skate shop with what i wanted only like an hour and half drive away.

so i hit the road this morning, and not only did i manage to get exactly the skates i wanted, sized perfectly, and they were on sale, but the dude (Gil) at the shop threw in a free t-shirt and some wax too. big shout out to roller warehouse in rocklin, CA.

i then took them to a local rink, and was pleasantly surprised that i hadn't lost all of my skills over the past decade. i did take one tumble when trying to hop out of fakie, but i had a hell of a time overall.

Nice. Just a word of caution. Take it very slowly. I too bought some skates of a whim after a decade of not rolling, and although I still had the muscle memory to land many grinds, I no longer had the muscles to hold them, and came very close to overextending my knee tendons/ligaments. Unfortunately I then moved far away from anywhere I could roll regularly, so I didn't keep it up.
