GoRetroid Unveils the Retroid Pocket 5

GoRetroid, known for their line of retro gaming handhelds like the Retroid Pocket and mini consoles, has once again impressed fans by revealing a new entry to its lineup—the Retroid Pocket 5. This device boasts a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, which marks it as an improvement over its predecessors, particularly the Retroid Pocket 4 series that featured a smaller and less vibrant IPS screen.

The new handheld's features also include a 1080p resolution and feature a modern ergonomic design. The AMOLED technology ensures deep blacks and excellent contrast ratios.

What do you think of the design? How do you think this device will compare to other retro-gaming handhelds on the market?

I think if these were solely being made by fortune 500 companies then yeah that'd definitely happen. Since they're all made by Chinese companies whose goal is to flood the market I think we'll be fine. You can find something at literally any price point, from $20-$200+

Yeah, I was exaggerating a bit but frankly I don’t love the trend. I want portable and tightly designed, not Yet Another Nintendo Switch Shaped Device. My favorite device at the moment is probably the TrimUI Smart, and if they could pack the power of that into the form factor of the Model S with L2/R2 and a better screen, I’d be very happy.

One decent larger device with thumbsticks for later generation consoles is reasonable, but these are all feeling so same-y.
