Git this for 20 bucks on a French flea market.
It's a #Minitel terminal with AZERTY keyboard.
In other countries also known as Videotext or BTX.
This was THE network before the internet came along.
This desperately needs a cleanup.

France was big in Minitel, they even continued the service until 2012.
I remember using the Swiss counterpart "Videotex" with a German BTX adapter cartridge for the Commodore 64.
They all had pretty much the same standard.

@[email protected] I used to live near Montreal - Alex, the Canadian equivalent to Minitel, was launched in the late 80s but eventually failed because it cost a lot more per hour of use than Minitel and faced competition from BBSes (FidoNet was big) which were cheaper to use. The arrival of cheap commercial Internet killed it officially in 1994 but the writing was on the wall a year or two before.

@[email protected] @jf_[email protected] I have a new in box version of the Austrian counterpart, still thinking this is the best looking 1980s home computer (which it basically was, but main function was BTX terminal)

That is indeed a beauty.😍
Reminds me of some MSX machines.
