Just wanted to say hello to everyone new joining the instance lately. Seems like reddits ideas of introducing paywalled subreddits got a few more people to think twice about using that site.

I just wanted to encourage new users to install a good mobile client for Lemmy. The web interface is OK but the mobile apps really take Lemmy to another level by being much faster and more user friendly.

I personally like Boost for Lemmy and Sync but there are many others to choose from. More are linked in the sidebar.

After you do that, make sure to subscribe to many communities. You see a list under the Communities tab and you can choose to subscribe with a click.

You can also go here and see all communities in the entire lemmy universe:

https://lemmyverse.net/communities

Me and @[email protected] are trying to keep the bots and spammers out and it goes pretty well so far.

Hope you like Lemmy more than Reddit, most of us here do.. :)

Hello! Thanks for accepting me. I've found Voyager on fdroid and I love it! Sadly, lemmy doesn't have all the subreddit I've followed there and the ones we have are not as active as the reddit counterpart. I wish people will ditch reddit for lemmy though

Welcome!

Reddit definitely has more niche subs thanks to the site population.

Which topics are you interested in? Sometimes it's a bit harder to find the matching Lemmy community, maybe we can help.

I've found some good communities like gaming, foss and open-source ones but I often checked assholedesign, mildlyinfuriating, technicallythetruth, and similar but the lemmy counterpart are lacking active community or posts I don't know if r/godot has its own instance, for example. It surely takes time, I hope the paywall bullshit brings more users here

For Godot, there is [email protected]

For the 3 others indeed they aren't that active, also it's summer so some people are on annual leave.

https://lemmyverse.net/communities allows you to search for communities, you can set your home instance using the house icon on the right so that the communities open on that instance

assholedesign

I just found [email protected], I guess that was the one you were following?

Yes, that one. Sadly, not all the subreddits have their own instance but with the new pay wall bullshit, I hope more will join here
