Sounds like you have more issues than the driver. I would suggest looking up proper configuration for your machine

It is an old quadro k1100m GPU, and the drivers are the latest official legacy drivers for it by nvidia. Old GPUs are barely maintained for linux, and I don't think these drivers were officially for Mint, but rather Debian core or Ubuntu.

I could try a different distro for better results.
