What's the English version of "dapat betis nak peha?" 🤔
Give them an inch and they will take a yard/mile? Quite wordy I know.
I looked it up and the strangest result appears: camel's nose.
Apparently it's a Victorian era, and Victorian made, idiom about an Arabian idiom of letting just the camel's nose in the tent, which eventually results in the entire camel being under it.
Give an inch take a foot?
I also first thought of that Chinese proverb, which is literally "get an inch, advance to a foot".
Yeah, dunno which based on which, both is being used widely
Literal? Get calf, want thigh
Figurative? Hmm... maybe 'Wants a ton for an ounce?'
