You do not have to give the precise location, something like "Northern Idaho, June 2023" or even "North-Western US, June 2023" suffices.

Merlin Bird ID
I see. I came across it but couldn't really figure out their license so I went with whoBIRD from F-Droid. It's not as flashy as Merlin, but it works well at identification. That's all it does!
I think the app is proprietary, but it is run by a non-profit.
Just to be more specific, it's run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology
