  1. Because there is a legitimate security reason to ban Tiktok, while banning Truth Social for supporting a fascist would run up against the 1st Amendment.

  2. Because there's rare bipartisan agreement on banning Tiktok due to the security risks presented by the Chinese government.

  3. Because the Tiktok ban is unrelated to the election. As evidenced by the normally hyperpartisan GOP being onboard.

  4. Because Biden is a democrat, small d, and believes that elections should be largely free and fair, and silencing the opposition is neither. Yes, including if the opposition consists of fascists.

  5. Because that would feed into the right-wing narrative of "The DEMS are OPPRESSING US" which can sway low-information voters with singular high-profile incidents repeated loudly and often.

Get real man. Tik Tok was never about China. It was always about silencing support for Palestinians. This is known.

Why do I feel like you're the type to argue that fascist rhetoric is protected under the 1st amendment? If you think fascists deserve a platform, you are the bad guy. This is liberalism.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It was always about silencing support for Palestinians

This makes you look so uninformed it is literally causing me to cringe. The ban was proposed several years ago, by republicans originally.

What the absolute fuck. When you say something so uninformed, it makes me think you actually are just mad about your funny videos and will look for anything else that sounds less pathetic to whine about

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (2 children)

And the reason Dems got onboard was because of how much pro Palestine info came from TikTok. Here's a video of mitt mentioning it in passing

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Motherfucker, Democrats got on board YEARS AGO because giving an authoritarian government full access to surveil your citizens is a fucking no brainer thing to want to prevent.

All you're doing here is revealing that you've no idea what's been happening in the world. Probably due to endlessly scrolling through 15 second clips.

Ps I will never click a TikTok link, even if it wasn't clearly irrelevant

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (2 children)

They got on board but only just voted for it now. Curious lol

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago

Maybe they only put it up for a vote now.

Curious.

Not as good as ignoring the history that happened in favor of simping for Chinese authoritarianism tho amirite

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I'll bite stranger what history am I ignoring?

Do you mean to say by not taking the US government at their word for the reasons they gave for banning TikTok are true? I think it's pretty dangerous to say that someone is denying history if they just think political actors are being less than honest.

If you mean something else, I'm all ears 👂

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I told you that the TikTok ban has been in the works for years with bipartisan support.

Which by the way glancing at headlines once a month would've made you aware of.

But no, you don't care, you're clinging to this braindead idea that the government thinks they're going to silence support for Palestine by banning a single app. That it has nothing to do with very obvious and explainable security concerns that were brought to light long ago.

None of the facts matter, just some hair brained, half baked conspiracy theory that you can only believe if you remain ignorant to basic facts about the world.

Even if you were right, which you abso-fucking-lutely aren't, it would be a bat shit stupid plan because a) you could make another social media account and support Palestine somewhere else, in minutes if that's what the actual concern was and b) if the slacktavism can't be bothered to switch to another platform it wasn't worth a fuck to begin with and therefore the government probably wouldn't have been worried about to begin with

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (2 children)

So you just think that the stated reason for why a government does something is always the true reason. Gotcha. Glad I didn't miss anything 👈😎

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I'm saying that I don't make weird shit up to justify things I like and neither should anyone. I'm saying that the government never once needed to tell me that banning TikTok was a good idea, as soon as I learned there was Chinese ownership, it was pretty obvious their data collection practices were scary.

I love when people try to say you believe everything you're told when you just believe a single logical thing and could talk for hours about the lies authorities have told their people. You know, like when the Chinese government denies to this day that tienanmen square was a massacre of protestors? Protestors -- Those people you're sooooo in support of?

The mindless scrolling for hours on end, that's not what you care about. It's Palestine and its supporters. 😂

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I didn't make anything up. I even supplied a video of a sitting senator talking about how it's something they talk about behind closed doors.

I'm surprised you believed tiananmen square actually happened considering that government denies it happened. I thought governments only told the truth about what they did and what their motives are and all those sorts of things. I'm glad you agree with me now.

Do you think maybe they looked into tiktok and then decided to actually pull the trigger while the whole Palestinian genocide thing was going on for a for a reason? Maybe the one that's sitting senator was talking about... Maybe the fact that it happened now and not in 2017 isn't just a coincidence. I know I'm asking you to think on your own and that's tough but I think you can do it.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Alright dude you're obviously a person who only cares about what they want to be true. You are tagged in my client so I know to never waste my breath on your ignorance again

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Beautiful. Please never speak to me again.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh I will I just won't actually entertain the stupid arguments for any sake other than to publicly illustrate what nonsense they are.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So first you weren't going to waste any breath on me even though we've never actually spoken. You've only typed to me... And now you want to keep typing to me? But only to prove me wrong but you haven't bothered to do that with what I just said a second ago... Okay dude, it's all right not to know or to be wrong. You don't have to act like there's some big perfect explanation is why you're right and I'm wrong then you just don't want to type it out. We all know you can't. It's okay. 🙂

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Just want you to know I won't actually entertain anything you say, just plan to show others passing by that it's hogwash for morons

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Oh for sure! You're totally not responding to every single comment I make. You marked my profile so you wouldn't respond to me ever and that's totally what you've been doing.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I'm going to do something that you can't because I'm better than you. I'm going to stop responding to you cuz you're a waste of my time.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

Glad to see I got under your teenage skin. Enjoy the clips. For now.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I'm curious though, if you think the TikTok ban, which started being discussed around 2017, was initiated after the illuminati time travelled to 2023 and found out it was being used to ...talk shit about an American ally?

Literally all you need is an IQ of probably 70 to deduce how flimsy your theory is. Well that, and a slight awareness of world politics from the last couple decades.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Again, the reason it happened now during the Palestinian genocide and not in 2017. Is it just a coincidence that it took 7 years or was there something else that happened that made it more urgent.

I pity you.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

No argument to the contrary. Cool 🙂. Glad You see things my way

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Everyone reading, including you, sees the logic I laid out above, and the cockamamie bullshit you spouted which barely resembles logic. Enjoy TikTok, while it lasts

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think I made a pretty good point myself. I think your point boiled down to: I

f they thought about it in 2017 and only did it in 2023. That means they had all the reasons that they did it in 2023 back in 2017 and nothing new could have happened to made them actually follow through.

No one's reading our two comments but if they were and they were reasonable they would know you are silly. 🙂

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

I think the massive amount of downvotes you got kinda dispute your "point" 😂

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 months ago

If I'm ever pathetic enough to appeal to internet points and refer to the scores in less than triple digits as "massive". Just shoot me in the back of the head 🤣🤣🤣

Man, I must have hurt your feelings for you to say something like that. You really have nothing left to say to my argument. Do you? That's sad dude

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago

Jesus Christ, you really can't stop yourself, can you?

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) (1 children)

It is known.

Not unlike common sense. Commonly held, and very often wrong, because it just appeals to the prejudices and preconceptions of the person repeating it.

Why do I feel like you’re the type to argue that fascist rhetoric is protected under the 1st amendment? If you think fascists deserve a platform, you are the bad guy. This is liberalism.

Because it literally is. Whether you agree with that or not, the ACLU has gone to bat on the issue and established the issue several times in the highest courts of the land. If you're arguing that Biden should be doing something he doesn't have the power to do, I don't know what to tell you.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So let me get this straight... you hold (one specific reading of) the first amendment to be so sacred, that you'd sooner follow it and allow its dissolution by fascists, than deplatform the fascists who wish to dissolve it?

You'd sacrifice your constitution and nation just so that you could have the moral benefit of having followed it?

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So let me get this straight… you hold (one specific reading of) the first amendment to be so sacred, that you’d sooner follow it and allow its dissolution by fascists, than deplatform the fascists who wish to dissolve it?

This is not the place or time for the argument of the question of how much power the government should have to decide what kind of politics count as unacceptably fascist. This is about Biden - Biden does not have the power nor political support to shut down Truth Social, so why the fuck bring it up?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So all of these obstacles that you list as reasons to why Biden is so ineffective - why didn't he just nominate an AG who'd give him a free pass to do anything he wanted - like Trump? Why isn't Biden bending the rule of law to halt fascism?

The answer is because you cling to "precedence" and "civility" so hard that you'd rather see a fascist takeover before a democrat disobeys your precious rules and processes that were set up by 30 year old slave owners. To liberals, the rule of law takes precedence over a fascist takeover. It is bizarre.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

It's bizarre that the president isn't a dictator, because otherwise a president who's a dictator could be elected.

That's an interesting point of view.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

So dictators are people who do the absolute minimum to halt fascism. Got it.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 6 months ago (1 children)

Dictators are those who exceed the normal constitutional boundaries of an elected office to impose their own will on a democratic system. Sorry that that's too complex for you to understand.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 6 months ago

"Akshually sweaty, banning the leading fascist networking tool during a period of unprecedented fascism would make the president a dictator"

Good lord. Imagine being this lib. Even if Biden wins and we stave off fascism for 2024, it won't be long until we fully backslide if this the height of liberal analysis. Utterly toothless.
