Regardless of where you lie on lgbt issues, this rhetoric sets a dangerous tome and how we respond or not will dictate whether their fire gethers fuel. So far ignoring it has only escalated threats to a point where a public library had to close for safety. There’s two issues at play here. A)intimidation of staff and patrons at publicly available information hubs to drive a socially conservative narrative, and B) talking points from the US social discourse being willfully imported to Ireland by useful idiots. They’re burning books over there because they morally disagree with them. If this can happen for one minority it can happen for all.
These twats want to do that here too, I think there’s a time you have to draw a line and if it wasn’t on day 1 or day 2 of this bullshit demonstration then the next best time is now to stop this getting out of hand and to protect members of the community who just want to be left alone and provide or avail of an invaluable public service.
