Metroidvania is a subgenre of video games focused on guided non-linearity and utility-gated exploration. The term, popularized by video game critic Jeremy Parish, is a portmanteau of Metroid and Castlevania.

This is a cloned community from Reddit. I intend to hand over mod support to the original mods should they choose to migrate to Lemmy.

I've just finished it. What a tense game. Not really that hard as I expected, but the mood is superb. Dark, despondent, brutal.Enemies are very original. Highly recommended.

Sometimes it can be a bit tedious, but other than that It's really good - 8/10 for me (also check the Monster Boy and Cursed Kingdom I mentioned in another your thread. I would say, it's even better).

I'll check S&S out either way. I see it pretty much universally recommended for the system.

Monster Boy is unfortunately not on the Vita. I wishlisted it. I shouldn't have any issues playing it on my laptop, even running it in wine.
