MobaPad is a Switch controller and game case maker (that I have never heard of), so they should have reliable info. They said that:

  • The Switch 2 will have physical cartridges and the slot will also be able to accept Switch 1 games.
  • There will be a new button on the back of each Joy-Con, behind the triggers.
  • There will be a new button on the right Joy-Con, by the Home button.

Unless Nintendo decided to go fully digital which is a definite possibility with each new console generation. Both Microsoft and Sony have made it known for quite a while that they want to go fully digital despite the constant pushback from consumers.

I think Nintendo could see value in a fully digital console as well.

If people keep buy physical.... They won't stop selling it.

But yeah larger trend is hard to ignore although there does appear to be the hard core group not buying digital except PC...

After too many stories of games or movies being "delisted"

Or something in between, like an optional USB-C cartridge reader.
