I noticed the new betas have the ability to upload video clips. I think this has been a huge missing feature that Reddit and other social media platforms have

Do you think so? I usually use gifs from catbox.moe, it's pretty reliable as a hosting platform, I'm not sure having videos uploaded directly to Lemmy would be that much of a change

I've had issues with catbox, specifically it doesn't convert videos if they're incompatible with your browser. Firefox doesn't support H.265 for example.

That's strange, I always check the gifs in catbox, they always play. Do you see the example I listed below?

Yeah, that one does. I think it's very dependent on what's been uploaded.

They might even have fixed it now.

I mean, gifs will always play, they're from like 1995. H265 is a whole newer and noticeably heavier thing.
